Make a Dog Toy:
Intermediate

STEP 1

Find an old t-shirt (bigger is better!).

STEP 4

Take 3 strips and tie a tight knot at the top.

💡 Tip: Tight knots make stronger toys!

STEP 2

Cut 3 long strips across the shirt — horizontally just under the sleeves and above the bottom hem.

Each strip should be about the width of your hand (4 inches.)

STEP 3

Stretch each strip by pulling it — this will make it roll into long, rope-like pieces.

STEP 5

Cut the bottom loops so each strip becomes 2 separate pieces.

Now you should have 6 strips total.

STEP 6

Clip or hold the top knot to something sturdy (like a chair or table).

Split the strips into 3 groups of 2 (you’ll use 6 strips to braid).

STEP 7

Start braiding:
Take one pair from the outside and cross it over to the middle.
Then take the pair from the other side and cross it over to the middle.

Keep repeating this pattern.

STEP 8

Keep braiding until it’s about the length of your hand (about 6–7 inches).

STEP 9

Take all the loose ends at the bottom and tie one big, tight knot.

STEP 10

Make a tag with your name and tie it to the top — you made this toy! 🎉

STEP 11

Donate your toy to a local shelter or give it to a newly adopted dog 🐶💛
